More than 25 million people are affected by varicose veins or chronic venous insufficiency in the United States with only 1.9 million seeking treatment. This leaves the vast majority of people undiagnosed and untreated. Without treatment, those with the disease may experience progressive symptoms such as swollen, heavy or painful legs. The onset of these symptoms gradually lead to a more sedentary lifestyle, with a decrease in overall wellness and quality of life. Â Advanced venous disease can eventually be debilitating due to skin damage, infections or wounds. Radiofrequency ablation, also known as the ClosureFast procedure, treats venous reflux disease- this removes the symptoms of venous insufficiency and begins the process of healing your legs.
